Learn from Bloggers: Meet Nicole San Miguel, Blogger and Freelance Writer
If you want to learn more about blogging, the best way is to learn from others. In this series of articles, “portrait of a blogger”, I am choosing an advanced Filipino blogger to tell you about their tips, mistakes and own insights about their blogging journey. And this to help yours. As they took the time to answer those questions, I am thanking them in advance, and I am inviting you to check their website and work.
Today, we are with….
Who are you?
I’m Nicole San Miguel, Blogger and Freelance Writer from Pampanga.
On year 2012, I started blogging about my life, mostly beauty and fashion.
In the latter part of my career, I expanded my content to other varieties like food, lifestyle, and travel. I love travelling as much as I love dressing up.
Plus, I also love taking photos because I believed that memories shouldn’t be forgotten.
One of my goals is to become an inspiration for many people in discovering their own style.
I’m a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Aside from blogging, I also accept freelance work in Writing and Digital Marketing to sustain myself.
What is your blog about?
My blog Living Beyond Style, www.nicolesanmiguel.com, was launched in the year 2014 when I bought my own domain.
Therefore, it is the beginning of all my successful partnerships and continuously growing online platforms.
My blog features my personal style, reviews of various products, my life experiences, travel destinations, restaurants, events & other trends.
When and why did you start this blog?
I’m a writer by heart since high school.
In 2012, I started blogging. I documented what happened on that certain day, what I did in school, things I like, etc.
Plus, I didn’t care if there are people that takes time to read them. To my surprise, there were few people who actually reads them!
I started posting my “Outfit of the Day” (OOTD), product reviews, and just basically about my Lifestyle.
2 years after, when I decided to buy my own domain.
So, I officially launched this blog, Living Beyond Style: same content but in a different approach.
Many opportunities came; I was invited to attend events, met few blogger friends, and.. on that same year, I had my first paid article! and the rest was history.
Which social media do you use and why?
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat (@nicolesnmgl) and YouTube are my social media channels.
That’s my way of connecting with my followers and my friends as well. I also use these platforms to share my content and update my readers.
Some stats about your blog / social media
I have 10.3K Instagram Followers, and my blog reaches 10K views per month
What is your greatest achievement since the beginning of your blogging journey?
When I was able to collaborate with big brands and being nominated on various blogging awards.
Just this year, my blog was awarded in the Top 30 Lifestyle Blog in the Philippines.
What is your greatest failure (or worse experience) as well?
It was 2 years ago when I had a break from blogging and attending events.
However, it felt like I’ve missed a lot of opportunities in my career because I suffered from depression after graduating from college.
I’m glad I overcame it. I felt motivated again and I started to feel the adrenaline back and the urge to write .
What would your advice to people who want to start blogging or who are new into blogging?
Just continue what you are doing. Don’t stop if you encounter negative people who will try to pull you down.
Surround yourself with positive people. Remember to do it for yourself.
Who are the bloggers you follow and why?
The blogger besties!! Laureen, Camille, Nicole, Kryzzie, Pat, and Lissa. They are my inspiration since I was starting in this industry up until now.
Any last word to say to your readers?
To all my readers, thanks for the love and continuous support!!
Seriously, you’re the reason why Living Beyond Style is alive and why I continue doing this. Though it’s my passion naman, you serve as an inspiration as well. I love you all and keep on supporting my blog.
I am Nicole San Miguel and I welcome you all to my blog.
